Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)

ADOS is considered the "gold standard" assessment tool for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder in children and adolescents. It involves a series of structured and semi-structured tasks that allow trained clinicians to observe and evaluate communication skills, social interaction, and imaginative use of materials in individuals suspected of having ASD. The ADOS can be used with individuals across the lifespan, from toddlers as young as 12 months to adults, and consists of different modules tailored to the individual's developmental level and language abilities, making it a versatile and comprehensive diagnostic instrument.
